I would like you to enjoy wearing my jewellery for many years to come, therefore cleaning your jewellery is very important to keep it in top condition. Naturally, silver pieces take on their own character, and tarnish in tiny places where you wouldn't be able to clean, therefore giving your piece of jewellery an antiqued look. The tips I have put together will help extend the life of your jewellery.
Do:
wipe your stones with a clean, soft cotton cloth and your silver with a silver polishing cloth;
use only very gentle soap solution with your fingers or a very soft brush to clean your jewellery;
ask a professional jeweller to clean very dirty pieces of jewellery;
restring most often worn jewellery by a professional (every 6 months or so). I offer a restringing service - please contact me for a quote. Pearl knotting is now available;
store individual pieces of jewellery separately, wrapped in a soft cloth or tissue. Best of all store each piece in an individual box with padding;
wipe your pearls with a damp cloth after wearing them, otherwise their lustre will become dull;
Don't:
have a bath or shower, or go swimming with your jewellery on;
spray perfume or body lotions on your pieces of jewellery;
dye your hair or use any colour solutions whilst wearing your jewellery;
do any physical activities with your jewellery on!;
clean notoriously delicate stones with a harsh cleaner (silver dip, ultrasonic cleaners, hot solutions or any abrasives) as it will destroy them. Such stones are: amber, coral, drusy, emerald, malachite, mother of pearl, opal, pearls, peridot, unstabilised turquoise;
wear your jewellery overnight or put it under your pillow;
hang your jewellery on a hook, as it will put an unnecessary pressure and will lead to breakages;
store your jewellery unprotected and jumbled up together;
never store your jewellery in the bathroom;
